Philadelphia Eagles prepare for season opening game against Washington Commanders

Summary

The Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2026 NFL season with a revamped offensive scheme under first-year coordinator Sean Mannion. Saquon Barkley is expected to play a larger role in the new outside zone running game, while the team anticipates DeVonta Smith will absorb additional targets to help replace the production of departed receivers. Defensively, coordinator Vic Fangio oversees a unit featuring veterans Jonathan Greenard and Jalyx Hunt alongside All-Pro selections Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean. The team looks to improve upon last year's playoff exit against the San Francisco 49ers. The regular season begins September 13 when the Eagles face the Washington Commanders at the Linc.
