Phillies consider calling up Andrew Painter for Orioles series

The Philadelphia Phillies are deliberating a potential call-up for pitcher Andrew Painter as they prepare for their series against the Baltimore Orioles. Painter, who struggled earlier this season with a 7.06 ERA in 14 major league appearances, has traveled to Baltimore, sparking speculation around his role. There are indications that the Phillies could use this opportunity to showcase him ahead of the trade deadline, despite management's previous reluctance to accelerate his timeline for a return. Team president Dave Dombrowski has emphasized the long-term importance of Painter's development. No decision on the starting pitcher for Friday's game has been confirmed yet.
