Phillies consider trade for Blue Jays' Varsho and Hoffman ahead of deadline

The Philadelphia Phillies are showing interest in a trade package from the Toronto Blue Jays that includes Gold Glove center fielder Daulton Varsho and All-Star reliever Jeff Hoffman. As the trade deadline approaches, the Phillies are looking to address key needs, including bullpen help and outfield depth. Varsho, though struggling with a.691 OPS this season, presents defensive strength and offensive potential. Hoffman, formerly with the Phillies, has inconsistent performance with a 4.11 ERA this season but offers an extra year of control. The Phillies are also considering other options, including Angels outfielder Jo Adell.
