Phillies prospect Gage Wood strikes out ten in Reading outing

Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Gage Wood recorded a career-high ten strikeouts during a Thursday performance for the Double-A Reading Fightin Phils. Facing the Hartford Yard Goats, Wood completed four innings while allowing one earned run and four hits over 86 pitches. The 22-year-old was the 26th overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft and has progressed through the Phillies' system after starting the season with the Clearwater Threshers. Wood holds the top ranking among prospects for the Philadelphia organization according to MILB Pipeline. He is currently working toward a projected 2027 MLB debut.
