Phoenix Suns evaluate Khaman Maluach for potential starting role

Phoenix Suns staff are monitoring 19-year-old center Khaman Maluach as he attempts to secure a larger role in the team's rotation. Following his performance at the Summer League in Las Vegas, where he shot 40% from three-point range and averaged two blocks per game, the team anticipates a breakout for the second-year player. While Mark Williams is slated to start the season as the primary center, his history of availability concerns leaves the door open for Maluach. Head coach Jordan Ott is also managing Oso Ighodaro, who provides depth but currently lacks the perimeter shooting to hold the starting center position long-term. Maluach is expected to make his preseason debut against the Detroit Pistons on October 5. The team is currently banking on the young center to improve his defensive presence and overall speed at the professional level.
