Pirates acquire Johnathan Rodríguez in trade with Orioles for cash

The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded with the Baltimore Orioles to acquire outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez for cash considerations. Rodríguez was designated for assignment by the Orioles and has been assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis. The 26-year-old has also played for the Guardians and brings a.177 batting average from his time in the majors. He performed well in Triple-A Norfolk, posting a.270 average with 14 doubles and four home runs this season. To make room for Rodríguez, the Pirates designated catcher Shawn Ross for assignment, who made his MLB debut and hit a two-run home run over the weekend. The Pirates reinstated catcher Endy Rodríguez from the injured list ahead of their game against the Diamondbacks.
