Pirates recall Ronny Simon and option Nick Yorke to Triple-A Indianapolis

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Ronny Simon and optioned infielder Nick Yorke to Triple-A Indianapolis ahead of their weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels. Simon joins the major league roster following a productive stint in the International League, where he posted a.344 batting average, 33 doubles, and 35 stolen bases. The 26-year-old has limited major league experience this season, recording a.290 average across 34 plate appearances. Conversely, Yorke struggled to maintain momentum with the big-league club, hitting.212 with one home run and 12 RBIs over 40 games. His recent output included only three hits in his previous 10 appearances. The Pirates hold a 71-73 record and begin a three-game set against the Chicago White Sox on Monday.
