Pirates struggle offensively in 2-0 loss to Marlins; Skenes exits early

The Pittsburgh Pirates fell to the Miami Marlins 2-0 at loanDepot Park on August 11. Esteury Ruiz's solo home run in the third inning and a run driven in by Otto Lopez in the fifth provided all the scoring for the Marlins. Paul Skenes struggled on the mound, lasting just five innings before being replaced, marking his shortest outing of the season with only 65 pitches thrown. The Pirates, now five games under.500 at 58-63, failed to get a runner in scoring position throughout the game. They will look to rebound with a scheduled game against the Marlins on August 12.
