The Pittsburgh Pirates have traded left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations. La Sorsa, who recently triggered an upward mobility clause in his contract, was previously signed as a minor-league free agent and has spent the season with Triple-A Indianapolis, where he posted a 3.46 ERA. This trade marks the second involving a relief pitcher this week, following the Pirates' trade of right-hander Justin Lawrence to the Minnesota Twins. The move may indicate a shift in the Pirates' roster strategy as the season progresses.
