Pirlo calls Italy's World Cup absence a disaster, emphasizes future challenges

Andrea Pirlo expressed disappointment over Italy's failure to qualify for the World Cup for the third consecutive time, describing it as a 'disaster.' In an interview, he reflected on the team's current struggles and stated, 'it’s what we deserve,' urging the Azzurri to focus on preparing for Euro 2028 and the next World Cup. Pirlo, now coaching in the UAE, indicated that a rebuild is necessary for both the national team and AC Milan, where he believes the club must 'start from scratch' to return to Champions League football. He also identified France, Spain, and Portugal as top contenders in the current tournament.
