Pistons inquire about trade for Mavericks' Kyrie Irving

The Detroit Pistons have approached the Dallas Mavericks regarding a trade for star point guard Kyrie Irving. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavericks' president, Masai Ujiri, has indicated that Irving is not available for trade despite the Pistons' interest. Irving, who has been sidelined since early March 2025 due to a knee injury, is expected to return for the 2026-27 season. The Pistons are also looking into acquiring New Orleans Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III, although the Pelicans have not made him available. Following a successful season, the Pistons are actively seeking to bolster their roster with shooters.
