Pistons' Michael Blackstone diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer

Michael Blackstone, the Detroit Pistons’ executive vice president of basketball operations, has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. The condition was initially linked to pain in his right shoulder, which led to further examinations revealing the cancer had metastasized to his spine. Since July 2023, he has been undergoing treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Blackstone is taking osimertinib for his EGFR mutation and hopes to manage his cancer as a chronic illness. He aims to raise awareness about the risks of lung cancer, especially in non-smokers.
