Pittsburgh Steelers activate Joey Porter Jr. from the PUP list

The Pittsburgh Steelers activated cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the physically unable to perform list on August 30. Porter missed all training camp sessions and preseason games due to a back injury and ongoing contract negotiations. His activation makes him eligible to participate in practice, though uncertainty remains regarding his return to the field while he seeks a long-term agreement. The organization previously finalized deals with other members of the 2023 draft class, including Nick Herbig, Darnell Washington, and Keeanu Benton. Mike McCarthy described the current status of contract talks between the team and Porter as an impasse. In 14 games last season, Porter recorded 52 tackles, 14 passes defended, one sack, and one interception without allowing a touchdown in man coverage.
