Police charge two individuals following the burglary of Dave Marcis’ home

Authorities in Buncombe County, North Carolina, have charged two people in connection with the August 28 burglary of retired NASCAR Cup Series driver Dave Marcis. The suspects, identified as Hailey Bowlin and Cameron Samotis, allegedly stole firearms, racing memorabilia, and jewelry from the driver's residence while he was traveling in Wisconsin. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office and the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the investigation and subsequent arrests. Both suspects remain in custody at the Henderson County Detention Center facing multiple charges, including second-degree burglary and larceny. Local officials report that a majority of the stolen property has been recovered, with some items located after a community member recognized the stolen goods at a local flea market. Marcis and his family continue to assist local law enforcement with the ongoing recovery of the remaining personal items.
