Port Washington Little League wins state title, advances to regionals

The Port Washington Little League All-Stars secured their first New York State title by defeating Staten Island’s Mid-Island 11-5. The win took place in West Nyack, and standout performances included Carlo Cafferata, who struck out six batters and allowed only one hit in three innings. Jack Gomez contributed significantly with three runs and two hits. Port Washington will compete in the Metro regional tournament starting Saturday, Aug. 8, in Bristol, Connecticut, facing Rhode Island's Lincoln in the opening matchup.
