Powerboat crashes at Lake of the Ozarks Shootout during 213-mph run

A high-speed powerboating accident occurred during the 38th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout on August 29 and 30. A boat named Dirty Duck reached 213 mph before launching into the air, flipping, and crashing into the water. The driver, Adam Seraphine, sustained a broken leg in the incident and was hospitalized until Monday afternoon. The throttleman, Rusty Williams, escaped the crash without injury and credited annual emergency escape practice for his safety. Organizers describe the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout as the world's largest powerboating event, featuring high-speed timed runs for various performance vessels. While the Dirty Duck sustained damage during the crash, team captain Slug Hefner confirmed the team intends to participate in the 2027 event.
