Premier League announces eight nominees for August player of the month

The Premier League has shortlisted eight players for the EA SPORTS Player of the Month award following the start of the 2026/27 campaign. The nominees include Riccardo Calafiori of Arsenal, Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki, and Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes. Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro are joined by Mamadou Sangaré of Brentford, Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis, and Newcastle United’s Yoane Wissa. Fernandes earned his nomination after scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist during a 5-2 victory against Ipswich. Tzolakis also secured a spot after keeping consecutive clean sheets in his first two league appearances, contributing to a strong start for the promoted club. Wissa remains in contention after scoring in a 2-0 win over Tottenham and recording an assist in his first two matches for Newcastle. The league will confirm the winner following the completion of the monthly voting process.
