Preston North End reaches deal with Celtic for striker Johnny Kenny

Preston North End has reached an agreement with Celtic to sign striker Johnny Kenny for a reported £3 million fee. The 23-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract at Deepdale, bringing his four-and-a-half-year stint in Glasgow to an end. Celtic acquired Kenny from Sligo Rovers in January 2022 for approximately £140,000, meaning the sale secures a significant profit for the club. Despite the transfer, the striker struggled to secure a regular role in the Celtic first team, finding more consistent playing time during loan spells at Shamrock Rovers and Bolton. Competition for positions at Parkhead increased recently following the arrival of Kasper Hogh and Camilo Duran, further limiting his chances. Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers had also expressed interest in the player before the agreement with Preston was finalized.
