Preston Stout leads 126th US Amateur despite early struggles

The 126th US Amateur Championship is ongoing at Merion. Preston Stout, the number one ranked amateur, struggled in his first round with a five-over par 75 and is currently two-over par through 10 holes of his second round. Englishman Tyler Weaver, ranked second, withdrew due to a back injury. In contrast, Miles Russell and Tyler Watts began strong with opening rounds of 67 and 69, while Luke Poulter shot one-over par 71. Only one player has ever won the championship after entering as the top-ranked amateur, Peter Uihlein in 2010.
