Preston Stout leads Oklahoma State to fourth at NCAA golf championships

Preston Stout surged to the individual lead at the NCAA men’s golf championship with a 7-under-par 65 in the third round at Omni La Costa Resort, California, on May 31. Stout, who started the tournament with a 1-over 73, improved significantly in subsequent rounds, and now holds a one-shot lead. Oklahoma State finished the day tied for fourth, needing to maintain a top-eight position to progress to match play. The Cowboys shot 287 on Sunday, improving from 295 in the opening round and are eight shots ahead of ninth-placed Oklahoma. The fourth round is scheduled for Monday, with match play starting Tuesday.
