Pro Football Hall of Fame eliminates separate seniors category for future classes

All eligible candidates will now compete in a single player pool regardless of their retirement date. This change affects former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Ken Anderson, who was a finalist in the Senior category for the Class of 2026. Under the previous structure, Anderson reached the final round of consideration after navigating a field of 162 nominees. He must now compete against all eligible modern-era players and long-waiting candidates for selection. The annual meeting will consider 13 players alongside one coach and one contributor, with candidates requiring 80% approval to earn a gold jacket.
