Pro Football Hall of Fame reduces selection committee size

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced on Friday, Sept. 4, significant changes to the process used for electing its inductees. The organization is cutting its selection committee from 50 members to 28, a total comprised of 25 active voters and three non-voting members. This restructuring follows a comprehensive review of the induction process that lasted two and a half years. Previously, the committee included representatives from all 32 NFL teams, a member from the Pro Football Writers of America, and 17 at-large members. The Hall of Fame stated that the new list of 25 voting members will be determined on a yearly basis.
