Protesters confront Pakistan under-19 cricket team at Portsmouth hotel

Members of the Pakistan under-19 cricket team were targeted by a group of protesters at the Marriott Hotel in Cosham on Tuesday. Approximately 30 to 40 individuals gathered at the site based on false reports claiming a coach transporting migrants had arrived. Some protesters reached the floor where the team was staying and knocked on players' doors before local police arrived to disperse the crowd. Sumair Syed, chief operating officer of the Pakistan Cricket Board, stated that the players managed the situation responsibly and proceeded to play a scheduled match the following day. The England and Wales Cricket Board is currently reviewing security arrangements for the remainder of the tour to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the squad. Local authorities confirmed that no criminal offenses occurred during the incident, which followed previous public demonstrations in the Portsmouth area.
