Providence picked fifth in Big East preseason poll under Hodgson

Providence has been selected fifth in the Big East preseason men's basketball poll during media day on October 1. Coach Bryan Hodgson takes over a team with limited returning talent, relying heavily on transfers including San Diego State's Miles Byrd, named to the all-conference second team. The Friars had a disappointing 15-18 record last season, prompting a coaching change. They will host a Late Night Madness event on October 3 and have exhibition games against Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech later this month, beginning the regular season against Maine on November 2.
