Rachel Van Gorp named to AVCA preseason watch list for Cyclones

Iowa State junior Rachel Van Gorp has become the first player from her program to earn a spot on the AVCA Preseason Player of the Year Watch List, announced on August 2, 2026. The list features 30 players, with Van Gorp being one of only two liberos selected. This recognition follows a historic 2025 season where she received multiple accolades, including the AVCA National Libero of the Year. Van Gorp finished her sophomore season with a.980 reception percentage and helped lead the U21 National Team to a gold medal at the Pan American Cup this summer. The AVCA will provide updates on the watch list in October, with semifinalists and finalists to be named later this year. Iowa State opens its 2026 season on August 14 against South Dakota State at Hilton Coliseum.
