Raiders place rookie defensive end Keyron Crawford on season-ending injured reserve

The Las Vegas Raiders placed third-round defensive end Keyron Crawford on injured reserve following a broken ankle sustained during the final preseason game last Thursday. Crawford suffered the injury while in pursuit of a play, occurring shortly after he recorded a sack. The rookie from Auburn had shown improved pass-rush burst late in training camp after a slow start to the preseason. Because of the injury, Crawford will miss his entire debut season, hindering his on-field development. The team will look to veteran Patrick Johnson to fill the role in the pass-rush rotation.
