The Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers are set to face off on September 10 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This event marks the first regular-season NFL game played in Australia. While the Rams are the designated home team, the 49ers maintain a larger existing fan base in the region, largely attributed to the team's success during the 1980s. San Francisco has coordinated a week of local events to build on this support, while the Rams hold official marketing rights in the country. The game offers the Rams an opportunity to gain new supporters among Australian spectators not yet aligned with an NFL team. Los Angeles enters the matchup with a roster that includes Matthew Stafford, Myles Garrett, Aaron Donald, and Trent McDuffie.
