Rams bolster defense with Myles Garrett and secondary additions for 2026

Summary

The Los Angeles Rams enter the 2026 season with a significantly overhauled defense after acquiring Myles Garrett and cornerbacks Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie. The arrival of these veteran players prompted 35-year-old Aaron Donald to return from retirement, providing the team with a bolstered pass rush. General manager Les Snead offset the departure of cornerback Cobie Durant by adding the two new defensive backs, reinforcing a secondary that struggled last season. Offensively, the team remains anchored by its returning MVP quarterback. While the roster is regarded as a preseason Super Bowl favorite, potential concerns remain regarding the health of Matthew Stafford and the overall depth of a top-heavy lineup. Edge rusher Byron Young is positioned for a breakout year as he plays alongside a strengthened front seven.
