Rams restructure Quentin Lake contract to create salary cap space

The Los Angeles Rams restructured the contract of team captain Quentin Lake on Wednesday to provide necessary salary cap relief before the start of the season. By converting $4.285 million of his salary into a signing bonus and adding two void years, the team successfully cleared $3.42 million in cap space. This adjustment moves the Rams to $2.8 million under the league limit ahead of their upcoming season opener against the 49ers. The franchise had been operating slightly over the cap following an earlier contract adjustment for Aaron Donald. Although this move stabilizes the team’s current financial position, the organization retains the option to restructure the contracts of other players, including Matthew Stafford, should additional space be required later this year. The void years added to the agreement result in a $1.7 million dead cap charge for the team in 2029.
