Randy Bennett begins first season as ASU basketball coach against East Tennessee State

Randy Bennett takes over the Arizona State University (ASU) basketball program as the season begins on November 2 against East Tennessee State. This comes after Bobby Hurley was dismissed after 11 seasons due to the team's struggles in the Big 12. Bennett has brought a renewed sense of optimism, noted for his successful tenure at Saint Mary's. In an exhibition match, ASU bested New Mexico 91-86, showcasing potential under Bennett's leadership, particularly from players like Paulius Murauskas, who excelled with 31 points. The team's new structure aims to improve rebounding performance and incorporate a diverse lineup, including several international players.
