Randy Johnson records his 300th win on June 4, 2009

Summary

On June 4, 2009, Randy Johnson achieved his 300th career victory as he led the San Francisco Giants to a 5-1 win against the Washington Nationals in the first game of a doubleheader. This milestone left Johnson as the most recent pitcher in MLB history to reach 300 wins, joining an elite group of only 24 pitchers. The achievement stands out particularly as modern baseball has made reaching 300 wins increasingly difficult due to changes in pitching strategies and team management. As of 2026, no pitcher has followed Johnson into the 300-win club, highlighting the rarity of this milestone.
