As a result, she had to step aside for the returning Paige to replace her and win the women’s tag team championship with her twin sister Brie at WrestleMania 42. Nearly four months after suffering the injury, Nikki’s WWE return may finally be imminent. WrestleVotes Radio was told that Nikki’s name has been brought up in recent weeks during WWE’s creative meetings for the first time since she was pulled from her WrestleMania match. Sources in the company indicate the internal belief is that she will return soon. This has naturally led to some speculation that she will be back this weekend (July 18) at Saturday Night’s Main Event when Paige and Brie defend the titles against Fatal Influence. For whatever it’s worth, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer claims that WWE originally planned to book this title match at SummerSlam. Randy Orton is another star who WWE fans are waiting to return after he lost in the WrestleMania 42 main event to Cody Rhodes. Even though Orton’s autograph and photo-op packages were pulled from Fanatics Fest, WrestleVotes heard from sources in WWE that The Viper is still expected to be in New York City this weekend. According to WrestleVotes, there are multiple people in WWE creative who wanted Matt Cardona to return to WWE as Zack Ryder when he re-signed with the promotion at the start of 2026, because that’s the gimmick WWE fans are most familiar with. These people still want to see Cardona go back to being Ryder. Votes hasn’t heard anything about WWE planning to make that change, despite a recent tease of it during his angle with Danhausen. Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer says El Hijo del Vikingo will be out of action for about nine months after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL. During an interview at Fanatics Fest, United States Champion Trick Williams said Lil Yachty is training to wrestle in WWE, and there will probably be some tag team matches happening soon. Sources confirmed that former TNA World Champion Sami Callihan “has been working backstage the last three weeks” at AEW Dynamite tapings, per Bodyslam.net. He has apparently been there as a backstage producer, but has not yet signed a contract with AEW, following his exit from TNA. Former WWE star Gangrel told Chris Van Vliet that he thinks it was actually Triple H (rather than Vince McMahon) who shut down Edge’s idea for The Brood reunion during his entrance at WrestleMania 39.
