Rangers place Jung on injured list, recall Smith from Triple-A

The Texas Rangers have placed third baseman Josh Jung on the 10-day injured list due to a calf strain. Jung left the game on July 19 against the White Sox after reporting a minor issue, but further scans revealed a strain that will sideline him for at least a week. To fill his roster spot, the Rangers have recalled infielder Josh Smith from AAA Round Rock. Smith has had a challenging season, starting as the regular second baseman before suffering a glute injury and later being hospitalized for viral meningitis. Currently, Smith is slashing.230/.312/.295 in the majors this season.
