The Baltimore Ravens have signed wide receiver Zay Flowers to a four-year contract extension worth $140 million, which includes $108 million in guaranteed money. Flowers, a two-time Pro Bowler, has averaged 1,000 receiving yards over the last two seasons but has not received any All-Pro honors. Bill Simmons from The Ringer criticized the contract as excessive for a player who has not consistently ranked among the top ten receivers in the NFL. Ravens coach Jesse Minter expressed pride in Flowers, emphasizing the importance of rewarding top talent within the team. The contract places Flowers among the highest-paid wide receivers in the league, generating mixed reactions from commentators.
- •Zay Flowers' contract averages $35 million annually, ranking him 4th among NFL wide receivers.
- •Flowers is recognized for his speed but has faced criticism for his performance in high-pressure situations.
- •Bill Simmons called the contract 'insane', suggesting it exceeds Flowers' value given his career statistics.
- •The Ravens see Flowers as a core player, seeking to strengthen their receiving corps with this extension.
- •Sources highlight Flowers' accountability issues after past playoff performances.
