Rays acquire Freddy Peralta from Mets before trade deadline
Summary

Freddy Peralta is set to join the Tampa Bay Rays after being traded by the New York Mets just before the Aug. 3 MLB trade deadline. Peralta, a two-time All-Star, struggled during his time with the Mets, posting a 5-9 record and a 4.99 ERA this season. The Mets are currently last in the National League East amid injuries to key players. The Rays aim to revitalize Peralta's performance as they target postseason success, with an updated rotation likely featuring him alongside Drew Rasmussen and Shane McClanahan, who is on the injured list.
