Rays consider trading for Freddy Peralta to bolster rotation

Summary

The Tampa Bay Rays are exploring options to strengthen their pitching rotation and Freddy Peralta of the New York Mets is a candidate. Despite the Rays' rotation performing adequately this season, concerns over workload limits for pitchers like Shane McClanahan, Griffin Jax, and Steven Matz prompt the search for reinforcement. Peralta has consistently thrown over 160 innings in recent seasons and is known for his durability and strikeout potential. With the Mets outside the playoff picture, they might be willing to trade Peralta, who is set to become a free agent this winter. The Rays would need to part with valuable prospects to acquire him, reflecting the high demand for starting pitchers at the trade deadline.
