Rays defeat Mets behind six strong innings from Freddy Peralta

The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the New York Mets 6-2 on Tuesday at Tropicana Field. Freddy Peralta limited his former team to one hit after the first inning, retiring 13 consecutive batters to secure his third quality start since joining the Rays. Sean Manaea struggled in the sixth inning for the Mets, allowing three runs before being relieved after 5 2/3 innings. Manaea gave up a total of 11 hits and five earned runs, marking his fourth consecutive start with at least four earned runs allowed. The Mets managed an early lead on a Francisco Lindor home run but failed to generate further offense against Peralta. Pitcher Dylan Ross made his major league debut for the Mets, recording three outs on 99 mph fastballs and a splitter.
