Rays trade three prospects for Mets' Freddy Peralta ahead of deadline

The New York Mets have agreed to trade pitcher Freddy Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-player prospect package. The Rays will send Aidan Smith, Emilien Pitre, and Gary Gill Hill to the Mets. Peralta, who has struggled this season with a 4.99 ERA, was initially acquired by the Mets in the offseason and is considered a rental player as he will be a free agent after the 2026 season. The trade comes as the Mets look to bolster their farm system ahead of the trade deadline.
