Reading refines squad through eight new signings in summer transfer window

Reading completed eight signings during the summer transfer window to support a promotion challenge for the current season. Management prioritized squad depth, adding two centre-backs, a right-back, a winger, two number 10s, and two forwards. The club saw the departure of Matt Ritchie and Derrick Williams following their retirements, while Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan was sold to AC Horsens in July. Several loanees returned to their parent clubs, and the team released a group of players including Andy Yiadom. Five younger squad members were sent out on loan to gain experience elsewhere. The incoming transfers were finalized in two phases, with four players joining early for pre-season and four more arriving after the campaign had already begun.
