Reading signs striker Jamie Reid from Stevenage on permanent deal

Reading completed the signing of striker Jamie Reid from fellow League One side Stevenage on a two-year permanent contract. The club sought reinforcements following the departure of Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and a long-term injury to Sean Patton. Manager Leam Richardson described the 32-year-old as an experienced goalscorer who provides tactical versatility and consistent availability. Over the last three seasons, Reid maintained a high appearance rate, playing at least 38 matches each year for Stevenage. This move addresses a recurring need for durability in the squad, as Reading has struggled with limited minutes from previous centre-forwards. The striker, who has made 16 appearances for Northern Ireland since March 2024, joins a forward rotation that includes Jack Marriott.
