Real Madrid plans for future without Courtois as age catches up

Real Madrid has begun preparations for a post-Thibaut Courtois era, acknowledging the goalkeeper's advancing age. At 34, Courtois remains the first-choice, but discussions about his successor are underway, especially following the departure of Fran Gonzalez to Sevilla. While no immediate replacement is expected this summer, Real Madrid is exploring transfer options for the future. Andriy Lunin continues to serve as the dependable backup, having played a crucial role despite limited starting minutes. The club is likely to assess its goalkeeping strategy more seriously by 2027.
