Real Madrid pursues Gvardiol and Calafiori as Mourinho approves signings

Real Madrid is set to accelerate its summer transfer activity following the re-election of President Florentino Perez. Jose Mourinho, who is returning as manager, has given the go-ahead for the club to pursue defenders Josko Gvardiol and Riccardo Calafiori. Gvardiol is reportedly in talks with Manchester City, while Calafiori may seek more playing time after joining Arsenal last summer. The need for new defenders arises from injury concerns with current players and the potential for tactical adjustments by Mourinho. A significant €150 million bid for a marquee signing is expected next week.
