Red Bull New York announced the promotion of midfielder Sekou Koné from their MLS NEXT Pro team, Red Bull New York II, on October 9, 2026. The 19-year-old Malian player has signed a contract that runs through the 2027-28 MLS season, with options extending to 2029-30. Koné made his first team debut on September 9 against LAFC and has already earned a full start in a match against St. Louis CITY SC. Head of sport Julian de Guzman praised Koné's abilities and his performance with RBNY II, where he recorded one assist in 18 appearances this season.
