The Boston Red Sox have reinstated pitcher Garrett Whitlock from the injured list ahead of their day-night doubleheader against the New York Yankees on August 29, 2026. Whitlock, who missed time due to right elbow inflammation, adds critical depth to the bullpen for at least 18 innings of play today. His presence allows interim manager Chad Tracy to manage the high-pressure games more effectively, especially as the Red Sox aim to narrow the three-game gap with the Yankees in the standings. Alongside Whitlock, the team has called up Raymond Burgos for the doubleheader roster. The Red Sox are looking to improve after struggling offensively with back-to-back shutouts in recent games.
- •Garrett Whitlock was sidelined since August 10 due to an elbow injury.
- •He is expected to provide late-inning stability in both games against the Yankees.
- •The Red Sox also called up Raymond Burgos for the doubleheader.
- •Boston aims to bounce back after being shut out in consecutive games.
- •Game 1 of the doubleheader starts at 1:05 p.m. ET.
