Red Sox broadcaster Will Flemming apologizes for comments about Jazz Chisholm Jr

Red Sox radio announcer Will Flemming issued an apology on August 31 for remarks he made during a broadcast of the team's doubleheader against the Yankees. In the seventh inning of Game 2, Flemming suggested that Red Sox pitcher Jovani Moran should throw at Yankees batter Austin Wells in response to Jazz Chisholm Jr. stealing third base. Flemming labeled Chisholm a bush league player for taking the base while trailing by six runs, though he later admitted on social media that he should have chosen his words more carefully. The Yankees eventually secured a 16-1 victory in the contest. Flemming stated that he meant no disrespect to the Yankees organization or players, attributing his on-air outburst to the emotions of the rivalry. Color commentator Will Middlebrooks joined Flemming during the broadcast when the comments were made.
