Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman continues to manage elbow injury

Boston Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman is dealing with a hyperextended elbow that is expected to persist for the remainder of the season. Rutschman sustained the injury on August 24 during a game against the Miami Marlins. Although he returned to the lineup shortly after the incident, he has missed recent games against the Seattle Mariners and was held out of one game during a Saturday doubleheader. Chad Tracy indicated in a radio appearance that the injury will likely remain a lingering concern throughout the rest of the schedule. Since arriving in a trade deadline deal that included Kyson Witherspoon, Enddy Azocar, Carlos Narváez, Anthony Eyanson, and Harold Rivas, Rutschman has struggled at the plate with a.500 OPS over 15 games. The team may opt to grant him additional rest days to manage his health as they navigate the final stretch of the season.
