Red Sox demote pitcher Jose Bello to Single-A Salem

The Boston Red Sox reassigned pitcher Jose Bello from High-A Greenville to Single-A Salem on September 1. Bello was promoted to the High-A roster on August 29 but remained with the team for only three days. The 21-year-old right-hander is the last remaining player in the Boston organization acquired in the June 2025 trade that sent Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. Across 18 appearances this season, including 11 starts, Bello has recorded a 4.34 ERA and 48 strikeouts. The club provided no official explanation for the roster move, which leaves the return from the 2025 trade significantly diminished. Other players included in that exchange, such as Kyle Harrison, Jordan Hicks, and James Tibbs III, have since been traded or moved within the system.
