Red Sox designate catcher Jake Rogers for assignment ahead of Blue Jays game

The Boston Red Sox designated catcher Jake Rogers for assignment on August 11, 2026, shortly before their game against the Toronto Blue Jays. This roster move follows the activation of Adley Rutschman, who returns from injury after a week with the team. Rogers, who joined the Red Sox on August 3, hit.500 in three games but was deemed expendable after Rutschman’s return. This decision comes as the Red Sox also moved infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the 60-day injured list to accommodate roster changes. Rogers is now on waivers and has the option to elect free agency if he clears.
