Red Sox face setback in pursuit of trade target Zach Neto

Summary

The Boston Red Sox received adverse news in their efforts to acquire Zach Neto from the Los Angeles Angels. Neto left a recent game against the San Francisco Giants after sustaining a hand injury from a pitch. With the Aug. 3 trade deadline approaching, the Red Sox have increased their interest in Neto, aiming to bolster their middle infield amid injuries to Trevor Story and Marcelo Mayer. Although Neto's injury raises concerns, he contributed to the Angels lineup this season, hitting.238 with 19 home runs and 46 RBI. The Angels are reportedly open to trade discussions but view Neto as a valuable asset, increasing competition from other teams seeking his services.
