Red Sox name Willson Contreras as their Heart and Hustle Award recipient

The Boston Red Sox selected first baseman Willson Contreras as the team's 2026 Heart and Hustle Award winner. The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association presents the honor annually to players who demonstrate passion for the game and uphold its traditions. Currently in his first year with the club, Contreras has posted a.274 batting average with 26 home runs and 79 RBIs across 125 games. He previously received the award while playing for the Chicago Cubs in 2022. The 34-year-old is presently on the injured list with a left hamstring strain as the Red Sox maintain a 79-65 record in the AL East. His eventual return to the lineup is expected to support the team’s postseason push during the final weeks of the regular season.
